Hold The Onions

Welcome to Hold the Onions! Hold the Onions has been a long time in the making and I am pleased to bring this blog to fruition. I have long been a hater of the Devils Fruit, the gross smelling, horrid textured Onion. I LOVE to cook and I LOVE flavor so I have created a work around for many recipes which include onion powder. You are more than welcome to take liberties with all recipes posted here and even include (gag) onions if you so wish. My family has also been on board the Gluten Free train for quite some time. Our youngest daughter suffers from some environmental and food related allergies. We ARE NOT CELIAC! Which makes us feel like posers most of the time. We went through a pretty huge transition 2 years into our gluten free way of life when we moved to Wisconsin from Idaho a year and a half ago. Being the culinary wizards we are, we needed to eat ALL THE FOOD offered in Wisconsin : The Brats, The Cheesecurds, The Butter Burgers with extra cheese, the barley and hop filled beers and all the "dish-to-pass" dishes that seem to permeate any event we attend. We got, or should I say I GOT lazy!! We were required to move from our home in Boise in a matter of 2 weeks, travelling, being displaced and living with in-laws for months caused me to lose my mojo to shop and cook and search out the Gluten Free options that are available in our new state. With all of this being stated, look forward to many gluten free recipes that you may also change to suit your needs. I spoke with many ladies in the past few days that have shared the overwhelming feeling that they get at dinnertime. What to cook? What is easy? What will my family actually eat? Many recipes will include what I actually served my picky eaters and part 2 recipes that you will be able to make from the leftovers. Onion Free, Gluten Free, Clutter Free recipes coming right up!
